UK GAS-Domestic outages boost day-ahead, December contracts
Nov 21 (Reuters) - British day-ahead gas prices and the December contract rose on Tuesday, driven by domestic outages which curbed supply, though warm weather kept demand low causing the within-day price to fall, traders said.
* Day-ahead gas was up 0.18 pence at 52.78 pence per therm at 1033 GMT.
* Within-day gas was down 0.35 pence at 52.90 pence per therm.
* "There are some outages in UKCS (UK Continental Shelf) offsetting the low LDZ (local distribution zones) consumption," said a British gas trader, explaining the day-ahead and December contract hike, adding low demand and warm weather led within-day prices lower.
* UKCS gas production lagged on Tuesday as flows into the St. Fergus NSMP terminal were cut by 7.5 mcm/day, Teesside PX experienced 100 percent loss of volume, and Bacton terminal's output was reduced to 6.3 mcm/day - National Grid (LSE: NG.L - news) data.
* Average temperatures on Tuesday could reach 13 degrees Celsius in southern Britain and are expected steady for the next two days, falling to 8 degrees Celsius over the weekend, data from Britain's Met Office showed.
* Gas supply from Norway to Britain on Tuesday reached 123 mcm/day, remaining at high levels, up 3 mcm/day from Monday.
* Britain's gas demand on Tuesday was 55.6 mcm lower than the seasonal normal demand, National Grid data showed.
* Peak wind power generation is forecast at 8.4 gigawatts (GW) on Tuesday and is expected to keep at the same levels on Wednesday, Elexon data showed.
* Higher wind output typically results in lower demand from gas-to-power plants.
* Britain's gas system was oversupplied by 9.2 million cubic metres (mcm), with demand forecast at 238.0 mcm and supply at 247.2 mcm/day, National Grid data showed.
* The December contract was up by 0.55 pence at 54.50 pence/therm.
* In the Dutch gas market, the day-ahead gas price at the TTF hub was up 0.15 euro to 19.67 euros per megawatt hour (MWh).
* The benchmark Dec (Shanghai: 600875.SS - news) -17 EU carbon contract rose by 0.10 euro to 7.54 euros a tonne.
