UK GAS-Gas prices decline on higher Norwegian supply forecasts

LONDON, May 12 (Reuters) - British gas prices fell on Friday morning, in part reflecting expectations of higher Norwegian deliveries through the Langeled pipeline from next week.

* Gas for immediate delivery was 0.75 pence lower at 38.50 pence per therm at 0851 GMT. * Gas for day-ahead delivery was down 0.25 pence at 37.80 p/therm. * Above-normal temperatures are expected in Britain over the coming week which is curbing demand. * However, from the middle of next week, temperatures are likely to fall to near or below normal values, weather forecasts showed. * The gas system was undersupplied by about 10.1 million cubic metres (mcm), with flows at 196 mcm/day and demand at 206.1 mcm/day, National Grid (LSE: NG.L - news) data showed. * Flows from Norway through the Langeled pipeline are expected to double to 30 mcm/day on Monday once the Ormen Lange gasfield returns to service, analysts at Thomson Reuters (Dusseldorf: TOC.DU - news) said. * In the Dutch gas market, the day-ahead TTF gas price was down by 0.12 euro at 15.15 euros per megawatt hour. * Benchmark Dec-17 EU carbon contract was down 0.23 euro at 4.34 euros a tonne. * Thomson Reuters analyst view: http://emea1.apps.cp.extranet.thomsonreuters.biz/cms/?pageid=united-kingdom-gas (Reporting by Oleg Vukmanovic; editing by David Clarke)
