UK GAS-Lower supply, high demand forecasts lift prices

LONDON, Nov 22 (Reuters) - British prompt gas prices rose on Wednesday, lifted by higher heating and residential demand forecasts as well as outages limiting supply. * Day-ahead gas was up 0.80 pence at 53.40 pence per therm at 0947 GMT. * Within-day gas was up 0.50 pence at 53.10 pence per therm. * Local (Stuttgart: 19549987.SG - news) distribution zone demand, which includes heating and residential consumption, rose 33 million cubic metres/day (mcm/day) for Thursday compared with a forecast of 147 mcm/day on Wednesday, analysts at Thomson Reuters (Dusseldorf: TOC.DU - news) said. * UK Continental Shelf supply improved after flows through the Bacton Perenco and Bacton SEAL terminals bounced back, though curbs remained in effect at the St Fergus TOM and Teesside terminals, National Grid (LSE: NG.L - news) data showed. * Average temperatures on Wednesday could reach 13 degrees Celsius in Britain, falling to 9 degrees on Thursday and to 4 degrees during the weekend, weather data showed. * Gas supply from Norway to Britain fell by 12 mcm/day to 109 mcm/day. * Britain's gas system was slightly oversupplied by 2.2 million cubic metres, with demand forecast at 233.3 mcm and supply at 235.5 mcm/day, National Grid data showed. * The December contract was up 0.53 pence at 54.95 pence/therm. * Gas for 2018 summer delivery rose 0.16 pence to 45.36 pence per therm. * In the Dutch gas market, the day-ahead price at the TTF hub was up 0.15 euro at 19.80 euros per megawatt-hour. * The benchmark Dec (Shanghai: 600875.SS - news) -17 EU carbon contract rose 0.01 euro to 7.49 euros a tonne. * Thomson Reuters analyst view: http://emea1.apps.cp.extranet.thomsonreuters.biz/cms/?pageid=united-kingdom-gas (Reporting by Oleg Vukmanovic; Editing by Dale Hudson)
