UK GAS-Norwegian supply dip and domestic outages lift prices
LONDON, Nov 20 (Reuters) - British spot gas prices rose on Monday as lower imports from Norway and multiple potential unplanned outages affecting domestic output looked set to tighten supply. * Within-day gas was up by 1.18 pence at 53.03 pence per therm. * Day-ahead gas rose 0.30 pence to 52.50 pence per therm at 1015 GMT. * Norwegian flows to Britain fell by 9 million cubic metres/day (mcm/day) to 114 mcm/day, data from Norwegian grid operator Gassco showed. * UK Continental Shelf gas production lagged on Monday as flows into the St. Fergus NSMP terminal dropped 10 mcm/day to 34 mcm/day, Teesside PX receipts fell around 5 mcm/day to just above 5 mcm/day, and Bacton Shell dipped 3 mcm/day to 8 mcm/day - National Grid (LSE: NG.L - news) data. * Flows into Bacton Seal posted a 5 mcm/day loss to 5 mcm/day. * "The latest weather forecasts beyond the end of this week have been revised colder, with weekend and working days next week demand up sharply," Thomson Reuters (Dusseldorf: TOC.DU - news) analysts said. * Despite tightening supply, Britain's gas system was balanced with demand forecast at 270.9 mcm and supply at 271.8 mcm/day, National Grid data showed. * The December contract was up by 1.60 pence at 54 pence/therm, reflecting revised forecasts indicating colder temperatures in late November and early December. * In the Dutch gas market, the day-ahead gas price at the TTF hub rose by 0.37 euro to 19.42 euros per megawatt hour (MWh). * The benchmark Dec (Shanghai: 600875.SS - news) -17 EU carbon contract fell by 0.14 euro to 7.34 euros a tonne. * Thomson Reuters analyst view: http://emea1.apps.cp.extranet.thomsonreuters.biz/cms/?pageid=united-kingdom-gas (Reporting by Oleg Vukmanovic; Editing by Edmund Blair)
