UK GAS-Prices decline as Norwegian supplies recover

* Within-day gas down 1.05 pence at 41.35 p/therm

* Norway imports through FLAGS recover after disruption

LONDON, Aug 12 (Reuters) - British spot gas prices mostly declined on Wednesday morning as Norwegian imports recovered after disruption the previous day and on expectations of higher liquefied natural gas (LNG) supplies next week.

Prices for within-day delivery were down 1.05 pence at 41.35 pence per therm at 0756 GMT, while the day-ahead price contract was flat at 41.40 p/therm.

On the supply side, Norwegian gas deliveries through the Far North Liquids and Associated Gas System (FLAGS) to Britain have fully recovered after they were disrupted on Tuesday.

FLAGS feeds gas into Shell (LSE: RDSB.L - news) 's St Fergus terminal. As a result, UK Continental Shelf flows have increased, with higher receipts of gas into a number of terminals including St Fergus Mobile and Bacton Shell.

The British gas system was nearly balanced on Wednesday morning, with demand forecast at 182.2 million cubic metres (mcm) and flows at 180.8 mcm/day.

LNG supplies are also expected to increase over the next week with five cargoes due to arrive in Britain, Belgium and the Netherlands from Aug. 12-21.

Both Centrica's Rough and SSE (LSE: SSE.L - news) 's Aldbrough gas storage sites are experiencing unplanned outages that have reduced gas withdrawal and injection capacities.

Britain's exports to the Continent are strong at 40 mcm/day due to maintenance on the Nord Stream system, which carries Russian gas to Germany, from Aug. 11-20.

"We expect this rate to continue for the duration of the Nord Stream maintenance," Thomson Reuters Point Carbon analysts said in a note.

Gas prices further along the curve were mostly lower, with the September contract down 0.13 pence at 40.70p/therm, but the Winter 2015 contract inched up by 0.03 pence to 44.80 p/therm.

In the Netherlands, the month-ahead gas price at the TTF hub was down 0.17 euros at 19.78 euros per megawatt-hour (MWh).

The benchmark European Union carbon price inched down by 0.02 euros to 8.08 euros per tonne on ICE Futures Europe. (Reporting by Nina Chestney)
