UK GAS-Prices dip on strong wind output

LONDON, March 11 (Reuters) - British wholesale gas prices were slightly lower on Monday morning as strong wind power output reduced demand from gas-to-power plants.

* Within-day gas dipped by 0.25 pence to 42.75 p/therm at 0850 GMT.

* Day-ahead gas was 0.10 pence lower at 42.75 p/therm.

* "Wind is strong which is a factor but temperatures are cold which could be limiting bigger falls," a gas trader said.

* Output from the country's wind farms is high and is expected to remain at these levels until March 17, Refinitiv analysts said.

* Average daily wind generation is forecast at between 7 and 11 gigawatts until March 17 when it drops to around 5 GW, Refinitiv Eikon data shows.

* The system is nearly balanced, with demand forecast at around 267 million cubic metres (mcm) and flows at 269 mcm/day, National Grid data shows.

* Temperatures on Monday are below the seasonal norm and forecast to be close to the seasonal norm on Tuesday.

* There is a slightly milder forecast than previously from March 11-22, with two days seen below the seasonal average on March 17 and 19, Refinitiv Eikon data shows.

* Gas for April delivery dipped by 0.35 pence to 41.90 p/therm.

* In the Dutch gas market, the April contract edged down by 0.02 euro to 16.73 euros per megawatt hour.

* The benchmark Dec-19 EU carbon contract edged down 0.15 euro to 22.87 euros a tonne. (Reporting by Nina Chestney)
