UK GAS-Prices down on milder weather and strong Norway flows
Nov 30 (Reuters) - British wholesale gas prices fell on Thursday, driven by forecasts for milder weather and high Norwegian flows that created an oversupplied system, traders said. * Day-ahead gas was down 1.40 pence at 56.00 pence per therm at 0939 GMT. * Within-day gas fell by 1.40 pence to 56.00 pence per therm. * Forecasts for slightly higher temperatures in the coming days and strong gas flows from Norway caused a decline in wholesale prices, said a British gas trader. * Average temperatures on Thursday could reach 4 degrees Celsius in southern Britain but are expected to rise to 9 degrees C on Sunday, data from Britain's Met Office showed. * Britain's gas system was oversupplied by 16.0 million cubic metres (mcm), with demand forecast at 344.4 mcm and supply at 360.4 mcm/day, National Grid (LSE: NG.L - news) data showed. * Gas supply from Norway to Britain on Thursday reached 125 mcm/day. * The December contract was down by 1.27 pence at 55.38 pence/therm. * In the Dutch gas market, the day-ahead gas price at the TTF hub fell by 0.22 euro to 20.58 euros per megawatt hour (MWh). * The benchmark Dec (Shanghai: 600875.SS - news) -17 EU carbon contract inched down by 0.07 euro to 7.63 euros a tonne. * Thomson Reuters (Dusseldorf: TOC.DU - news) analyst view: http://emea1.apps.cp.extranet.thomsonreuters.biz/cms/?pageid=united-kingdom-gas (Reporting by Lefteris Karagiannopoulos in Oslo; editing by Nina Chestney)
