UK GAS-Prices ease as higher Norwegian supply offsets outages

* Gas system undersupplied by 3 mcm/d

* Outage at St Fergus to last until Thursday

* Imports from Norway rise by 11 mcm/d

April 13 (Reuters) - British wholesale gas prices edged lower on Wednesday morning as higher flows from Norway offset reduced supplies from an ongoing outage at the St Fergus gas terminal.

Gas for immediate delivery fell by 0.10 pence to 27.80 pence per therm at 0900 GMT, while the day-ahead contract was down 0.05 pence at 27.65 pence/therm.

Demand was forecast to be 254 million cubic metres (mcm) on Wednesday, down from the previous day, leaving the system slightly undersupplied by 3 mcm, National Grid (LSE: NG.L - news) data showed.

"A ramp-up in Norwegian flows through the Langeled pipeline is offsetting the fall in supplies into St Fergus," a UK-based trader said.

Supplies through the Langeled pipeline, Britain's main subsea gas import route, rose by 10 mcm on Wednesday from the previous day.

Receipts at St Fergus Total gas terminal were cut by 5 mcm/day on Tuesday morning and the outage is expected to end by Thursday.

Meanwhile, flows at Bacton Seal terminal were at 12 mcm/day after falling to around 5 mcm/day on Tuesday evening due to an unexpected outage.

Further out on the curve, gas contracts eased in line with oil prices, which were down on a stronger U.S (Other OTC: UBGXF - news) . dollar and concerns that producers could fail to rein in oversupply.

Prices for gas delivery next winter were trading 0.05 pence lower at 32.85 pence/therm.

In the Dutch gas market, the day-ahead price on the TTF hub fell 0.25 euro/MWh or 2.2 percent at 11.25 euro/MWh.

In the European carbon market, front-year allowances eased 0.03 euro to 5.56 euro a tonne. (Reporting by Nerijus Adomaitis in Oslo; editing by Nina Chestney)
