UK GAS-Prices mostly lower on milder and windier outlook

LONDON, Nov 18 (Reuters) - British wholesale gas prices were mostly lower on Monday morning due to expectations of lower demand from power plants and for heating.

* Day-ahead gas was down 0.45 pence at 38.75 p/therm by 0844 GMT, while gas for December delivery was down 1.10 p at 39.90 p/therm.

* The outlook for gas-for-power demand is lower for the weekend and next week which was weighing on prices, traders said.

* Temperatures are also expected to be higher from the weekend, which could lower demand for heating.

* "Temperatures will rise a bit in the course of the week and will be near or slightly above normal. Next week will turn generally more unsettled and windier with occasional rain in the entire area. Temperatures will be mostly above or near normal," said Refinitiv meterologist Georg Muller.

* "This pattern will likely last into the first week of December with no signs of major colder than normal spells," he added.

* Flows from Norway through the Langeled pipeline are stable at 72 mcm/day and UK domestic production is healthy.

* However, Refinitiv Eikon data shows gas-for-power demand on Monday is high, which has helped to create oversupply due to more requests for withdrawals from storage sites.

* The system is undersupplied by around 15 million cubic metres (mcm), with demadn forecast at nearly 318 mcm and flows at 303 mcm/day, National Grid data shows.

* Peak wind generation is forecast at around 5.4 gigawatts (GW) on Monday and 5.5 GW on Tuesday, out of a total metered capacity of aorund 12.1 GW, Elexon data shows.

* The within-day contract edged up by 0.10 p to 39.00 p/therm.

* In the Dutch gas market, the December contract was down 0.40 euro at 15.35 euros per megawatt hour.

* Benchmark Dec-19 EU carbon contract was 0.47 euro lower at 23.38 euros a tonne. (Reporting by Nina Chestney)
