UK GAS-Prices rise on lower Norwegian supply

LONDON, Oct (Shenzhen: 000069.SZ - news) 9 (Reuters) - British wholesale gas prices rose on Monday morning due to a decline in flows from Norway. * Day-ahead gas rose by 1.05 pence to 48.60 pence per therm at 0754 GMT. * Within-day up 1.10 pence at 48.60 p/therm. * "Supply from Norway is lower which has put pressure on the prompt," a gas trader said. * Flows through the Langeled pipeline from Norway are down from Friday. Thomson Reuters (Dusseldorf: TOC.DU - news) analysts expect flows to fall below 10 mcm on Tuesday and Wednesday as the Kollsnes gas processing plant goes offline for maintenance. * Flows through Vesterled are at zero from Oct. 10-13 due to maintenance. * National Grid (LSE: NG.L - news) data shows demand forecast at 220 million cubic metres (mcm) and flows at around 223 mcm/day, meaning the system was slightly over-supplied by 3 mcm. * On the demand side, temperatures will be between 16 and 19 degrees Celsius in the south of the country this week, UK Met Office forecasts show, which should lower demand for heating. * Wind energy output is also expected to rise, which should lower gas-for-power demand. Peak wind generation is seen rising to 8.2 gigawatts (GW) on Tuesday from 4.8 GW on Monday, Elexon data shows. * In the Dutch gas market, the the day-ahead price at the TTF hub was 0.22 euro higher at 17.95 euros per megawatt hour. * The benchmark Dec (Shanghai: 600875.SS - news) -17 EU carbon contract was 0.15 euro lower at 6.85 euros a tonne. * Thomson Reuters analyst view: http://emea1.apps.cp.extranet.thomsonreuters.biz/cms/?pageid=united-kingdom-gas (Reporting by Nina Chestney)
