UK GAS-Prices rise on lower flows from Norway

Aug 29 (Reuters) - Wholesale gas prices rose on Tuesday despite an oversupplied system, pressured by lower Norwegian flows and expected cuts in Norway's output next month.

* Gas for immediate delivery was up 0.7 pence at 45 pence per therm at 0910 GMT.

* Day-ahead gas firmed by 0.98 pence to 45.15 pence per therm.

* Lower Norwegian gas flows were expected to shrink further in September because of scheduled maintenance in the Nordic country, pushing up prices, a British gas trader said.

* Total (LSE: 524773.L - news) gas supply from Norway to Britain fell to 98 mcm/day from 110 mcm/day, with flows from the Langeled pipeline down 13 mcm/day compared with Monday.

* Britain's gas system was oversupplied by 9.6 mcm on Tuesday, with demand forecast at 188.8 mcm/day and supply at 198.4 mcm/day, National Grid (LSE: NG.L - news) data showed.

* During September, maintenance is scheduled at Norway's Kollsnes gas processing plant and at the Troll field, which could halve imports to Britain.

* Peak wind power generation is forecast at 3.4 gigawatts (GW) on Tuesday and is expected to fall to 2.9 GW on Wednesday, Elexon data showed, which could raise demand for gas.

* Average temperatures on Tuesday could reach 26 degrees Celsius in southern Britain but are forecast to fall by 10 degrees on Wednesday, according to UK Met Office forecasts.

* The September gas contract edged up by 0.75 pence to 45.35 pence per therm.

* The day-ahead gas price at the Dutch TTF hub fell by 0.22 euros to 16.55 euros per megawatt hour (MWh).

* The benchmark Dec (Shanghai: 600875.SS - news) -17 EU carbon contract inched down by 0.05 euros to 6.05 euros a tonne.
