UK GAS-Prompt prices down on warmer weather outlook

(Corrects lead and headline to say prices down on warmer weather, not lower Norway flows)

May 24 (Reuters) - British prompt gas prices fell on Wednesday morning due to warmer weather forecasts. * British day-ahead gas price down 0.60 pence at 36.75 pence per therm at 1017 GMT. * Within-day contract down 0.10 pence at 36.90 p/therm. * Traders said forecasts for warmer weather and therefore less demand pushed prompt prices downwards. * Britain's Met Offices forecast temperatures could reach around 24 degrees Celsius in the southeast of the country on Wednesday, and possibly hit as high at 27 degrees at the weekend. * Gas demand almost 8 percent below seasonal norm of 212 mcm, National Grid (LSE: NG.L - news) data showed. * Peak wind power output is forecast at 3.0 gigawatts (GW) on Wednesday, falling to 1.9 GW on Thursday, National Grid data shows. * Gas system oversupplied by 7.2 million cubic meters (mcm), with demand forecast at 194.3 mcm/day and flows at 201.5 mcm/day, National Grid data showed. * Imports from Norway through the Langeled pipeline were lower at 18 mcm/day from around 35 mcm/day overnight * June gas contract was up 0.10 pence at 36.80 p/therm at 0950 GMT. * Winter 2017 contract was down 0.10 pence at 46.30 p/therm. * Day-ahead gas price at the Dutch TTF hub was down 0.07 euro at 15.48 euros per megawatt hour. * Benchmark Dec-17 EU carbon contract was up 0.10 euro at 4.85 euros per tonne. * Thomson Reuters (Dusseldorf: TOC.DU - news) analyst view: http://emea1.apps.cp.extranet.thomsonreuters.biz/cms/?pageid=united-kingdom-gas (Reporting by Lefteris Karagiannopoulos in Oslo; editing by Nina Chestney)
