UK GAS-Prompt prices edge up as Norway supplies slip

Sept 11 (Reuters) - Prompt gas prices were flat to higher on Monday despite a slight oversupply in the market and high wind generation, as Norwegian gas along the FLAG pipeline system dwindled. * Gas for immediate delivery was flat from Friday's close at 46.85 p3ence per therm at 1013 GMT. * Day-ahead gas edged up 0.60 pence to 46.60 pence per therm. * Gas supply from Norway to Britain fell to 59 million cubic metres per day (mcm/d) on Monday from 65 mcm/d on the previous day. * "Flags exports have not returned and are in fact at 6 mcm, with Statfjord/Gullfaks gas (from Norway) potentially rerouted to the Continent," Thomson Reuters (Dusseldorf: TOC.DU - news) analyst Dimitrios Saratzis said in a note. * Britain's gas system was oversupplied by 14.1 mcm on Monday, with demand forecast at 167.3 mcm/d and supply at 181.4 mcm/d, National Grid (LSE: NG.L - news) data showed. * Peak wind power generation is forecast at 8.9 gigawatts (GW) on Monday compared to capacity of 9.9 GW and is forecast to slip to 8.5 GW on Tuesday, Elexon data showed. * Average temperatures on Friday could reach 18 degrees Celsius in southern Britain on Monday, dipping slightly the next day, but the day will feel cooler due to blustery winds, UK Met Office forecasts showed. * The day-ahead gas price at the Dutch TTF hub rose 0.15 euro at 17.20 euros per megawatt hour (MWh). * The benchmark Dec (Shanghai: 600875.SS - news) -17 EU carbon contract fell 0.19 euro to 6.88 euros a tonne.
