UK GAS-Prompt prices rise on undersupply due to Norwegian maintenance
* System undersupplied by 7 mcm
* Imports from Norway fall by over 30 mcm/day
July 6 (Reuters) - British prompt gas prices rose on Monday as a sharp fall in imports from Norway due to planned maintenance left the system undersupplied.
Gas prices for immediate delivery rose by 0.50 pence to 43.70 pence per therm by 0850 GMT, while gas for Tuesday delivery was up 0.1 pence at 43.70 pence per therm.
"Tight intra-day supplies, with increasing demand forecasts for the week are supporting gains on prompt contracts," said a UK gas trader.
Britain's gas network was undersupplied by 7 million cubic metres (mcm) per day, with demand pegged at 180 mcm/day, according to National Grid (LSE: NG.L - news) data.
Norwegian pipeline gas exports to Britain fell by more than 30 mcm/day on Monday morning from last Friday, due to what analysts said was planned maintenance at Troll, the country's biggest gas field.
The supply side was partly helped by a fall in exports to Belgium to 26 mcm/day from 36 mcm/day on Friday.
Gains further out were limited by the prospect of an increase in LNG supply, traders said.
Three LNG tankers were expected to arrive to Britain within a week, ship-tracking and ports' data on Reuters showed.
Gas prices for winter 2015 delivery were steady at 47.75 pence per therm.
Dutch day-ahead gas prices at the TTF hub were broadly steady at 20.92 euros per megawatt-hour.
