UK GAS-Prompt rises slightly on lower temperatures and wind output

LONDON, Oct (Shenzhen: 000069.SZ - news) 26 (Reuters) - British prompt wholesale gas prices rose slightly on Thursday morning as falling temperatures and lower wind power output caused demand to rise. * Within-day gas price up by 0.75 pence to 45.50 pence per therm at 0823 GMT. * Day-ahead gas was 0.30 pence higher at 46.00 p/therm. * Gas-for-power demand has risen due to low wind output and heating demand is rising on the expectation of lower temperatures. * Peak wind generation is forecast at around 4.3 gigawatts (GW) and is forecast to rise slightly to 5.3 GW on Friday, according to Elexon data. * "The weather is supposed to get colder from tomorrow and wind power is down," a gas trader said. * On the supply side, the gas market was oversupplied by around 11 million cubic metres (mcm), with demand forecast at around 209 mcm and flows at 220 mcm/day, National Grid (LSE: NG.L - news) data shows. * Flows through the Langeled pipeline are at 55 mcm. * In the Dutch gas market, the day-ahead gas price at the TTF hub rose by 0.10 euro to 17.08 euros per megawatt hour (MWh). * The benchmark Dec (Shanghai: 600875.SS - news) -17 EU carbon contract inched up by 0.04 euro to 7.44 euros a tonne. * Thomson Reuters (Dusseldorf: TOC.DU - news) analyst view: http://emea1.apps.cp.extranet.thomsonreuters.biz/cms/?pageid=united-kingdom-gas (Reporting by Nina Chestney)
