UK will likely always need some kind of seasonal workers scheme - Eustice

Britain's Environment Secretary George Eustice walks outside Downing Street in London

MANCHESTER, England (Reuters) - British environment minister George Eustice said on Tuesday the farming industry would always need a scheme to bring workers to the country to help at busy times but the government was determined to make sure it would not undermine local jobs.

"We will probably always need some kind of seasonal workers scheme," he told the Conservative Party conference in the northern English city of Manchester, adding that the government would need to design a system that did not undermine the local jobs market.
