Ulrika Jonsson has opened up on her issues with her breasts, insisting she should be allowed to hate them if she wants to.

The 52-year-old TV presenter provoked some criticism when she posted a rant on Instagram about being unhappy with her boobs - in conflict with the body confidence movement and considered by some to be offensive to women who have been forced to have their breasts removed for medical reasons.

Jonsson told ITV’s Lorraine: “My argument was I am still allowed to hate my breasts.”

The former Gladiators host revealed she had breast reduction surgery in 2009 because, “they were quite big and they got in the way… I didn’t know what to do with them.”

But she revealed that going through the menopause had caused them to increase in size, only to get smaller again.

She added: “I still hate them.... There’s a lot more skin and less substance now.”

Jonsson revealed: “I sleep in my bra because I don’t like them hanging around.”

The TV presenter complained: “I always felt big and it changed all the choices I made clothes wise. I would never wear low cut things.

“I felt very vulnerable in situations like that - so exposed. The done thing nowadays young girls, not all the young girls, are having breast implants. So, I think part of my [online] rant was having inadvertently lost weight over the last few months, not deliberately, my breasts disappeared again and I went for a bra fitting and the very sweet lady was furious I had lost so much volume and I was such a difficult size to fit. I was only a 28 around here but needed a double F cup.”

Jonsson hit the headlines last year for speaking out about the breakdown of her marriage to third husband Brian Monet, which she blamed on a lack of intimacy.
