On this episode of In The Know: Hair School, celebrity hair stylist and host Justine Marjan shares her expert tips for achieving the ultimate sleek high ponytail for everyday wear or a night out.
Marjan begins by gathering half of the hair at the top of the head, while clipping the rest away using Conair Metal Styling Clips. Then, she smooths out the hair using a smoothing brush to create a super sleek look. Once the hair is brushed back clean and smooth, Marjan sprays some TRESemmé Tres Two Extra Hold Aerosol Hairspray for extra hold before brushing it one last time while the hairspray is still wet.
Next, Marjan brushes the hair back with a Reach Clean World Bamboo Soft Toothbrush dipped in TRESemmé Extra Firm Control Tres Gel to really set in the smooth finish. The expert hair stylist brushes the gel through with the toothbrush from the roots all the way up to where the ponytail is gathered. Once Marjan is happy with the smoothness of the hair, she secures the top section with an elastic.
Now, Marjan adds the rest of the hair into the ponytail by brushing it upwards into the top ponytail in sections. Once all the hair is gathered, she goes in with some of the gel again at the roots before combining the two ponytails with an elastic.
As a finishing touch, Marjan irons the hair with the ghd Platinum+ Professional Performance 1″ Styler to make sure the length of the ponytail is smooth before finally running a few pumps of TRESemmé Keratin Smooth Serum through the length of the ponytail.
