Under Armour and Baltimore photographer Devin Allen are teaming up with company employees to debut a new capsule collection that commemorates the rich history of Charm City and its Black residents.

“This is a love letter. To a city that redefines resiliency,” a portion the release reads. “To the beauty and strength of the Black community that has so much to offer. To the connection and possibilities that sports bring.”

Developed alongside members of Under Armour’s Black Employees Achieving Together (BEAT) team, this was truly a team effort utilizing the experiences of individuals from diverse, yet common backgrounds. Using the self-taught creative’s vision in capturing the city’s grit, that aesthetic is shown through the minimalist color scheme and focus on textures and materials throughout Allen’s photographs.

Giving back has consistently been at the core of Under Armour’s brand, and it’s no different with this release. A portion of profits will help support local Baltimore nonprofit Wide Angle Youth Media, an adolescent development program that Allen and Under Armour have committed to working with to mentor and get cameras into kids’ hands.

“I wanted people from places like Baltimore, Oakland, Chicago, and Detroit to be proud of their cities. Because our communities have so much to offer, so much to celebrate,” Allen said. “Photography can open doors. By teaching kids how to document the world, express themselves, and capture what they see, we can strengthen their futures through art.”
