There is no evidence to support that wearing a face mask will protect you from COVID-19. You should still avoid touching your face, washing your hands frequently for 20 seconds using warm water and soap and practice social distancing.

While I’ve never fought wearing a face mask, I never thought I’d be sitting here writing a review on one particular mask. After all, I always thought of reusable facemasks to have one initial purpose: preventing the spread of COVID-19, while also preserving medical-grade face masks intended for healthcare workers such as N95 respirators.

But, of course, this was until I decided to hit the gym again when they finally re-opened across the GTA a few months back, and needed something a bit more specific. And although gyms have since been shuttered again for the time being, if you’re looking for a mask that stands up to a workout, I’ve finally found one that works.

While it may look a lot thicker than your typical reusable cloth mask, it’s made with Polyurethane open-cell foam that allows air to go through but makes it hard for moisture and sweat to absorb in the mask, while the brand's signature Iso-Chill fabric on the interior lining offers a fresh feeling and is cool to the touch — even during hours of training and running.

I can confidently say that, unlike the rotation of reusable face masks I have, I can actually breathe properly wearing the UA Sportsmask — and it does stay cool and fresh as promised. So much so that I have multiples of this mask that I wear outside of my workouts.

It offers a secure but not tight feeling. It comes in five sizes with to fit unique face shapes and features a soft, adjustable nose bridge for a more snug fit and cool-to-touch ear loops that barely feel there. I wear the size XS/S.

I’ll admit, this mask isn’t for everybody. Because of how thick this face mask is it does take quite of time to get used to — but I think it really proves its worth when you’re on-the-go or working up a sweat.
