An extraordinary island home with its own private beach 15 minutes’ drive from Richmond could be yours for £2.45 million.
Island House on Wheatleys Eyot island in the Thames faces water on three sides and is accessed via a bridge.

It has a three-acre garden, a swimming pool and a 62ft Thameside mooring, and is on the market with Knight Frank.
Jeri Journeaux says the property has been more than a house for her family since they moved from their home “with a tiny garden” in Kew to the island in Sunbury-on-Thames three years ago.
“It’s a lifestyle, we go kayaking and early morning swimming,” she says. “We’re 15 minutes from Richmond, and we have a tractor.”
With remote-working now a possibility, the family are taking their lifestyle change one step further and considering a relocation to the south of France.
In addition to the main family home, there’s a stable block-outhouse with log store and a separate apartment currently rented out as The Look Out on Airbnb for around £155 a night.
Popular with couples who travel by train – and bicycle – from east London, Jeri says the holiday apartment has been booked up with creative people, some needing to work from there, some wanting to isolate – and one guest who wrote songs about the island home while living there.
Inside the main house are four bedrooms, a double-height living room overlooking the water, a satin black quartz kitchen, a gym and a sauna.
“We’ve got a few little boats, one we call Pub Boat which is a little motorboat we use to go up to various pubs nearby – you can tie up next to the pub and go in for a pint,” says Jeri.
“It’s the closest riverside village to London,” she adds. “We go for dinner in Kensington from time to time, it just takes 15 to 20 minutes to Richmond and Richmond Tube [on the District line] is ideal.”
Andrew Chambers of Knight Frank Weybridge says: “Island House is unlike any property I’ve sold in my time.”
“It’s a completely unique opportunity to own part of a private Island with access to an amazing waterside lifestyle.”
