US Fed will move carefully when raising interest rates
LONDON (ShareCast) - The US central bank will move in a very deliberate fashion when it begins to normalise its monetary policy, so there is little risk that it might be forced to backtrack, a policy-maker said on Thursday. "I take the decision pretty seriously. Once we start, I want to be able to move deliberately," the president of the Federal Reserve bank of Atlanta (BSE: ATLANTA.BO - news) remarked.
He was speaking to an investment education conference in Detroit, according to Reuters.
"Conditions are pretty solid," he added.
Lockhart regards an initial move at the June, July or September Fed meetings as a high probability.
