Alex Morgan is the latest athlete to test positive for the coronavirus.

The 31-year-old two-time World Cup winner with the United States women’s national team announced Tuesday that she and had tested positive for COVID-19. Apparently, her husband, pro soccer player Servando Carrasco and seven-month-old daughter, Charlie, were also infected.

“Unfortunately, my family and I closed out 2020 learning that we had contracted Covid while in California over the holidays. We are all in good spirits and recovering well,” Morgan wrote to her almost 4 million Twitter followers.

“After our isolation is completed, I will follow US Soccer's return to play guidelines to ensure my body is fully recovered and I can join my teammates back on the field soon. Be safe and happy new year.”

Morgan returned to her and Carrasco’s native California last month, shortly after ending her short-term loan from the NWSL’s Orlando Pride to English Women’s Super League side Tottenham Hotspur. Morgan scored two goals in five games for Spurs across all competitions.

Morgan’s diagnosis makes her among the highest-profile athletes to have contracted the virus and arguably most famous soccer player to test positive since Portuguese icon Cristiano Ronaldo tested positive in October.
