Valneva Announces a New Research License Agreement with MSD Animal Health for the Development of Vaccines in the EB66® Cell Line
Lyon (France), January 5, 2017 - Valneva SE ("Valneva" or "the Company"), a fully integrated, commercial stage biotech company focused on developing innovative life-saving vaccines, today announced that it has signed a research license agreement with MSD Animal Health, known as Merck Animal Health in the United States and Canada.
The agreement grants MSD Animal Health the rights to research new vaccine candidates using Valneva`s EB66® technology.
MSD Animal Health and Valneva had already signed a commercial license agreement in 2009 allowing MSD Animal health to develop and commercialize EB66®-based vaccines for an undisclosed indication.

Valneva`s EB66® cell line is a highly efficient platform for vaccine production. It is derived from duck embryonic stem cells and today represents a compelling alternative to the use of chicken eggs for large scale manufacturing of human and veterinary vaccines. EB66® is one of the most extensively studied and characterized cell line available for use in human vaccine development. More than 20 different families of viruses have been shown to efficiently propagate in EB66® cells.
