Vanessa Morgan’s Husband Has Reportedly Filed for Divorce After 6 Months of Marriage

The 'Riverdale' star announced she was pregnant on Friday.

In a surprising turn of events, Riverdale star Vanessa Morgan and White Sox pitcher Michael Kopech are reportedly divorcing. The news comes only six months after their January wedding and only a couple of days after Morgan announced she was pregnant. According to the Chicago Tribune, the White Sox pitcher filed for divorce on June 19th in Morris County, Texas near his hometown, as seen in court documents.

Morgan announced her pregnancy on Instagram on Friday, July 24th. The 28-year-old actor shared photos from a party where she revealed she’s having a boy, along with pictures of positive pregnancy tests that she took in May and an ultrasound. In the caption, she shared that her baby is due in January and talked about wanting to keep him out of the public eye.

“Lil one you were made with so much love & already exude a light so strong it warms my belly,” Morgan continued. “Thank you God for this blessing ☺️ I’m just so happy & can’t wait to dedicate everyday to being the best mommy I can be.”

Morgan did not mention Kopech in the caption nor was he in any of the photos from the party.

The last time she posted an Instagram of her husband was April 30th when she wished him a happy birthday. As for Kopech, the 24-year-old quit using social media in October 2019, as reported by the Chicago Tribune. People reports that a rep for Morgan confirmed that Kopech is the baby’s father.

While it looks like their marriage is coming to an end, Morgan is clearly excited to welcome her baby. As she wrote in her Instagram caption, “This little guy has already brought me so much happiness and a feeling of such a greater purpose. I cannot wait to meet you!!”
