VaR

Value at Risk is a technique widely used by banks and commodity trading firms to provide a snapshot of their current risk level. It assesses the probability that losses on financial assets will exceed a certain amount over a set period and given confidence level through statistical analysis of past market volatility and price trends. It is generally expressed as a percentage.
