You know you’re an adult when you get excited about a blender. But a Vitamix isn’t your ordinary appliance. The brand boasts blenders with super powerful motors that “pulverizes even the toughest ingredients with ease.”

Whether you’ve had your eye on a Vitamix or you’re just catching up on the wonder and awe of these babies, now is the time to buy. The Vitamix E310 Explorian Blender is nearly $160 off at Sur La Table — and it ships free.

To get into the specifics, this Vitamix blender has a two peak horsepower motor that powers four stainless steel blades to chop, crush and purée. In fact, it has 10 various speeds for creating the perfect texture for your food and beverages, from smooth salad dressings to crushed ice to chunky tomato soup.

Also important: The lid is spill-proof. But it has a removable plug for adding ingredients as you blend, or using with a tamper tool.

With all that power, you’d think this blender was huge, but this version is actually described as “lower profile” with a 48-ounce container for making “medium-sized batches,” according to the product description. All in all, it’s 17 inches tall and 13 inches wide. So it won’t take over a ton of counter space and it will probably fit in one of your kitchen cabinets.

With all that said, you can trust this machine to work. If you’re not convinced, it comes with a free five-year warranty.

If you’re not familiar, Vitamix is a family-owned business that’s dedicated to making products that last a really long time. According to the brand’s website, the founder, William Grover Barnard, actually began selling kitchen products in 1921. Barnard had a passion for whole-food nutrition, and first named his business The Natural Food Institute. In 1937, he discovered the blender, and quickly saw how it could help prepare healthy foods more quickly. In the 1940s, he then focused his time on selling the blender, which he called the Vita-Mix (vita means life).

Over the years, the family worked together to use their engineering and cooking skills to make their blenders even more powerful and durable. And today, Barnard’s great granddaughter leads the company as president and CEO.

If you’re in need of a powerful blender that’s going to last you a long time, Vitamix is it. Admittedly, the blenders aren’t cheap, but seeing as how long they last, think of your purchase as an investment. And it’s an even better investment to buy a Vitamix while it’s on sale.
