VEGOILS-Market factors to watch January 18

The following factors are likely to influence Malaysian palm oil futures and other vegetable oil

markets.

FUNDAMENTALS

* Malaysian palm oil futures slumped to a three-week low on Wednesday evening as a firmer

ringgit MYR= and weak demand weighed on the market.

* U.S. corn futures climbed more than 1 percent on Wednesday on short-covering and technical

buying after recent contract lows and on expectations that a weaker U.S. dollar may revive

slumping export demand.

* Oil prices ended higher on Wednesday ahead of the release of U.S. government data that was

expected to show a ninth straight weekly drawdown in crude inventories.

MARKET NEWS

* Asian stocks were near record highs on Thursday, with a rally by Wall Street supporting

bullish investor sentiment, while the dollar pulled back from three-year lows as the euro's

recent rally lost steam.
