VEGOILS-Market factors to watch Oct 20

The following factors are likely to influence Malaysian palm oil futures and

other vegetable oil markets.

FUNDAMENTALS

* Malaysian palm oil rose on Friday, as traders snapped up deals after a two-day

selloff and bet on improving fundamentals over the weekend, but gains were

limited as some investors waited for clearer direction.

* U.S. soybean and corn futures each fell more than 1 percent on Friday as

clearing skies in the Midwest signaled a quicker pace in the harvest of

record-large crops and increased farmer selling, traders said.

* Oil prices rose slightly on Friday, bouncing from near four-year lows even

while marking a fourth straight weekly loss, as investors bought back into a

market they said was oversold, and as fighting in Iraq increased political risk.

MARKET NEWS

* World equity markets rallied, with European stocks surging the most in more

than two years, and bond prices slid on Friday as investors poured back into

beaten-down markets on solid U.S. corporate earnings and rising consumer

sentiment.
