VIDEO: SP accuses BJP workers of pulling woman's saree

A Samajwadi Party leader Ritu Singh has accused Bharatiya Janata Party workers of pulling the saree of a woman and harassing her.

Ritu Singh shared a video where a group of men can be seen pulling a woman's saree. The woman is an associate of Ritu Singh.

Ritu has alleged that the men are the workers of the BJP and were brazenly harassing her associate, who is her proposer for the upcoming Uttar Pradesh block pramukh elections. Ritu is the Samajwadi Party candidate for the UP block pramukh polls from Pasgawan block in Lakhimpur Kheri district.

The SP leaders said the incident happened when the party worker was on her way to forward the nomination papers. She claimed that men are the supporters of Lokendra Pratap Singh, the BJP MLA from Mohammadi area. She also alleged that the BJP 'ggons' snatched her nomination papers, tore them and fled from the spot.

Based on her complaint, a case has been filed against Yash Verma and other unknown BJP workers under sections 147, 171f, 354, 392 and 427 of the Indian Penal Code.

The SP president Akhilesh Yadav also tweeted the video and condemned the incident.
