A video of a young girl, who is badly bruised, has gone viral on social media platforms amid the ongoing West Bengal polls in which she's claiming that she and her family were beaten by Trinamool Congress workers.

In the clip tweeted by the official account of Bharatiya Janata Party's Bengal unit, the unnamed girl can be seen narrating her ordeal.

In a tweet, the BJP said, "TMC’s barbarism at its peak! This time they beat up a young girl blue black just because she tried to save her father, who was being beaten by TMC goons. Question that needs to be asked to Pishi – Is she not a daughter of Bengal?"

"I got hurt in the eye. My father had gone to save my uncle, who was being beaten by party members of the Trinamool Congress," she said.

She added: "Several people thrashed my uncle. On learning about it, my father went to save him. He was also beaten. When we (family members) went to protect him, they also assaulted us."

Bengal has seen a string of cases of political violence in the last few years in which many people have even lost life.

The opposition parties have been accusing the Chief Minister Mamata Banerjee for actively perpetuating the culture of political violence.
