Rolls-Royce revealed the Droptail earlier this month at Monterey Car Week, with plans to build just four units. The first Droptail was named La Rose Noire, and now Rolls-Royce is showing off the second Droptail, called Amethyst.
The wealthy customer who ordered this Droptail formerly worked at a gemstone shop and collects jewels, hence the amethyst inspiration for this exclusive convertible.
The purple paint job is same it emulate the globe amaranth flower, and the paint features powdered aluminum flecks to create a sparkling look.
The Droptail comes with a removable hardtop roof, and the electrochromic glass can turn opaque and is tinged purple.
Inside, the Amethyst Droptail features plenty of purple leather, contrasted with a tan hue called Sand Dunes.
The gauges on the dashboard feature real amethyst with a smooth, rounded finish.
The vanes within the Amethyst Droptail's imposing grille are part hand-brushed and part hand-polished, creating a unique finish inspired by luxury watches.
The rear deck is made from open-pore wood and Rolls-Royce says it's the "world’s only ‘raw’ wooden surface that produces downforce."
There's wood galore in the cabin as well, and Rolls-Royce says the wood in this vehicle underwent 8000 hours of extreme weather testing.
Like the first Droptail, the Amethyst model features a custom timepiece in the dashboard that can be removed and worn as a watch.
Rolls-Royce hasn't divulged a price for the Amethyst Droptail, but previous bespoke projects have cost upwards of $20 million.
