SINGAPORE — Ngee Ann Polytechnic (NP) on Tuesday (23 March) said it was aware of a video circulating on social media showing its students apparently urinating on their peers and that it will be conducting an internal disciplinary enquiry into the incident.

In response to media queries by Yahoo News Singapore, the polytechnic said it takes a serious view of the matter and does not condone or tolerate any form of misconduct.

"All NP students are expected to behave as responsible and respectful members of our community," added NP, which described the video to be showing "students engaging in inappropriate behaviour".

It said that it has identified the students involved as part of its investigations and none are freshmen.

"We have also ascertained that the incident did not take place during our freshmen orientation programme or as preparations for this orientation programme," added NP.

The polytechnic said that it will conduct an internal disciplinary inquiry and will take appropriate disciplinary action on students found to be in breach of our Student Code of Conduct.

"As safe management measures were not adhered to on our grounds, we will also consider this in meting the necessary disciplinary action," it added.

The school has also reached out to the students involved to extend counselling support.

Police investigations ongoing

In the video clips circulating online, a group of men donning black T-shirts can be seen taking turns in pairs to supposedly urinate on two naked men in a shower cubicle.

A man can be heard in the background shouting for others to "empty their vessels" on the naked men who were squatting and facing the wall in the cubicle. One of the naked men was told "No showering!", by a person in the background, when he tried to clean himself.

It remains unclear when the incident took place but at least one of the men dressed in black had a blue surgical mask pulled down and gathered at his neck.

Police said they were alerted to the incident, which they classified as a case of voyeurism, at 535 Clementi Road on Monday at about 9.50pm. Investigations are ongoing.
