Hundreds of Virgin Media customers have reported issues with the network across the UK on Wednesday (18 March).

As reported by The Mirror, of those who have reported problems, 52% have been experiencing issues with their mobile phone, 30% with cable internet, and 16% with mobile internet, according to network status monitoring website Down Detector.

The complaints have come in from across the country with Birmingham, London, and Manchester the most affected locations. The problems started at around 10.50am local time on Wednesday, according to Down Detector.

“There are no widespread broadband issues on our network,” said a Virgin Media spokesperson to Yahoo Finance UK.

“We’re aware of an intermittent issue affecting voice services for some of our mobile customers but this has no relation to our other services. We’re working to get this fixed as quickly as possible and apologise for any inconvenience.”

The reports come after customers of all four of the UK’s major networks — EE, Vodafone, O2, and Three — complained of problems with their services.

The problems have arisen as millions of people begin working from home as they follow guidance by the UK government to cut down on social contact to help prevent the spread of coronavirus.

EE said: “We don't believe it is connected to the rise in home working.”

In a statement posted on their website, O2 said: “This is a cross industry issue and our technical teams continue to investigate, working to resolve the issue as quickly as possible. We apologise for any inconvenience.”
