Volkswagen planning second German battery factory - works council

BERLIN (Reuters) - Volkswagen's powerful works council said the carmaker's management planned to build a second battery factory in Germany, adding that it backed the plan, provided the Federal Government supported it.

Stephan Weil, the premier of the state of Lower Saxony where Volkswagen has its headquarters, and which is also a major shareholder in the company, said there were good chances that the factory would be in his state.
