The Walking Dead star Samantha Morton and Harry Potter's Tom Felton star in the first trailer for Sky's all-new feel-good dramedy Save the Cinema.

Set in 1993 in the sleepy town of Carmarthen in Wales, the Sky Original focuses on a local and well-loved but financially struggling cinema as it finds itself at risk of being demolished.

As the local council announces that The Lyric Theatre is set to be demolished and a shopping centre built in its place, hairdresser Liz Evans (Morton) rallies the local community to stand up for the cinema in an attempt to save it.

With Liz and her friends barricading themselves in the theatre, she reaches out to postman-turned-town councillor Richard (Tom Felton) for help, and it's not long before they come up with a plan. Spoiler alert: it involves Jurassic Park.

In the trailer, Liz is determined to get in touch with none other than American filmmaker Steven Spielberg ahead of the debut of his dinosaur action movie. Will Spielberg answer the call? And would hosting the premiere of Jurassic Park help save the Lyric?

Alongside Morton and Felton, the cast also includes Game of Thrones actor Jonathan Pryce and Enola Holmes' Adeel Akhtar and Susan Wokoma. Sara Sugarman directs from a script penned by Piers Ashworth and a story by Lorraine King.

Morton is known for her turn on the ninth and tenth seasons of The Walking Dead, where she played Alpha, the leader of the Whisperers.

Felton, popular for the role of Draco Malfoy in the Harry Potter movie franchise, has been recently seen in Netflix's family horror movie, A Babysitter's Guide to Monster Hunting.

Save The Cinema will be released in cinemas and on Sky Cinema from January 14, 2022. The film will also be available on streaming service NOW.
