Yahoo Finance The Wanted's Tom Parker making Channel 4 documentary on cancer battle
The Wanted star Tom Parker is making a documentary about his battle with cancer for Channel 4, which will cover him attempting to organise a charity concert to raise funds for important research.
The one-off special will follow Tom's home life and see him explore possible treatments, meet other patients, and put on the aforementioned show at the Royal Albert Hall.
It will be part of Channel 4's Stand Up to Cancer programming.
In a statement on Instagram, Tom said: "As well as looking at our story, I've also been meeting some amazing people who are suffering from the same disease and meeting doctors and activists who are trying every day to raise awareness and to fight for more funding for vital research into brain cancer.
"It's been an eye opening, and at times, an emotional process but I'm really proud of what we are creating.
"It's time to raise awareness and increase the money available for research and if I can help do that with this project then I'll be a very happy man!
The singer was diagnosed with an inoperable brain tumour, specifically stage four glioblastoma, last August.
Shortly after his diagnosis, Tom's wife Kelsey – who he has been with since 2009 – gave birth to the couple's second child.
In some good news, Tom revealed back in January that he was responding well to treatment and his brain tumour had shrunk.
"SIGNIFICANT REDUCTION," he wrote. "These are the words I received today and I can't stop saying them over and over again. I had an MRI scan on Tuesday and my results today were a significant reduction to the tumour and I am responding well to treatment. Everyday I'm keeping on the fight to shrink this bastard!
"I can't thank our wonderful NHS enough. You're all having a tough time out there but we appreciate the work you are all doing on the front line."
