A Los Angeles jury reached a verdict Friday in the lengthy murder trial of New York real estate heir Robert Durst. Prosecutors said Durst silenced Berman to prevent her from telling police what she knew about the disappearance and suspected killing of his wife in New York in 1982.
The U.N. General Assembly is relying on an honor system — and only an honor system — to ensure that world leaders have been vaccinated before they speak at next week's big meeting, the assembly president said. Presidents, premiers, monarchs and other dignitaries won't have to show vaccination cards or other proof of inoculation — they'll simply attest to it by swiping their ID badges at the assembly hall, G.A. President Abdulla Shahid said in a letter Thursday. Russia has criticized the requirement, and the first speaker, Brazilian President Jair Bolsonaro, isn't vaccinated and reiterated Thursday that he doesn't plan to get the shot anytime soon.

The divorce rate appears to be going up in Nashville, and although we don’t wish that life disruption on anybody, it sure is turning out to be good for country music. This month alone has brought two superior concept albums about unions being torn personally and legally asunder — first, “Star-Crossed” by Kacey Musgraves, who […]
key federal advisory panel voted overwhelmingly on Friday afternoon not to recommend booster shots for every American 16 years or older who has already been vaccinated against the coronavirus, only to vote minutes later — even more overwhelmingly — to approve boosters for people 65 and older, as well as those at high risk because of pre-existing conditions or occupational hazards.
Prosecutors inched closer on Friday to concluding their case at the R. Kelly sex-trafficking trial, calling two final witnesses to try to further cement allegations he groomed young victims for unwanted sex in episodes dating to the 1990s. The other was an expert witness on abusive relationships who is to return to the witness stand for cross-examination on Monday before the government rests. The expert, psychologist Dawn Hughes, testified about studies showing that many abusers systematically isolate, demean, subjugate and spy on their victims as means of control — all tactics allegedly used by Kelly.
A woman documented her journey hiking up the steep granite dome along Yosemite National Park’s iconic Half Dome Trail on September 9.This video, taken by Orange County resident Sarah Sham, shows her ascent up the trickiest section of what Yosemite says is its “most prestigious hike.” The trail is more than 17 miles long and climbs up 4,800 feet.Speaking to Storyful, Sham said that she’s wanted to attempt this strenuous hike ever since she saw photos of it online a few years ago. Since then, it’s taken her about three years to get the permit to hike the Half Dome, which is determined by a lottery system through the National Park Service. After beginning the hike around 2:30 am, Sham said it took her group about five and a half hours to arrive at the cables section of the trail. From there, it took her about 20 minutes to climb up the granite dome using the cables. This section required a lot of upper body strength, even though Sham said she didn’t complete any training beforehand.“There were a few people behind me and I felt the pressure to move faster and to not slip because I would ultimately fall on them and we would all fall,” Sham told Storyful. “So the fear of dying definitely trumps fear of heights,” she added.Overall, the hike took Sham and her group 14 hours to complete. Roger Brown, a College Football Hall of Famer and six-time Pro Bowl selection with the Detroit Lions and Los Angeles Rams, has died. The Lions and College Football Hall of Fame announced his death on Friday. The Lions said a member of Brown's family confirmed the death.
When his tenure as president of the Writers Guild of America West began four momentous years ago, David Goodman knew a groundswell was building for a campaign to end the decades-old practice of talent agencies earning packaging fees from TV shows and movies. As such, the longtime comedy scribe and showrunner for “Family Guy” and […]
