Watchmen and The Mandalorian lead 2020 Emmy nominations

Watchmen and Star Wars spin-off The Mandalorian lead the nominees for the 2020 Primetime Emmy Awards.

Former Saturday Night Live star Leslie Jones, Orange is the New Black's Laverne Cox, Central Park star Josh Gad, and Perry Mason actress Tatiana Maslany announced the nominations on Tuesday (July 28), ahead of the ceremony on September 20, 2020.

Watchmen scored the most nominations of any show this year with 26, including Outstanding Limited Series and Lead Acting nods for both Jeremy Irons and Regina King.

The Mandalorian received an Outstanding Drama Series nod and one for Giancarlo Esposito's guest appearance as Moff Gideon, as well as 13 others in total.

Insecure was honoured in the Outstanding Comedy Series category and its creator/star Issa Rae was shortlisted in the Lead Actress category, while Stranger Things and The Crown cracked the Outstanding Drama Series race.
