Three men have been stabbed to death in a weekend of bloodshed in London that also left an “innocent" woman fighting for her life.

A man in his 20s was stabbed to death in Ramillies Close, Brixton Hill, south London, just before 6pm on Sunday evening.

The force said officers are trying to trace his relatives and no arrests have been made at this stage.

Hours earlier, at around 2pm, a man believed to be in his 60s was knifed to death at Kensal Green Cemetery on Harrow Road in north west London.

A man in his 50s has been arrested on suspicion of murder and remains in custody.

Detective Chief Inspector Katherine Goodwin, from the Met’s Specialist Crime South team, leading the investigation, said: "I believe this terrible incident may have been witnessed by a number of horrified onlookers.

"I urge anyone who has yet to speak to police to contact us immediately. A man has lost his life in violent circumstances and we are doing everything we can to understand what has happened here."

Also on Sunday, police were called following reports of a shooting in Westgate Street, Hackney, at around 8.50pm.

The victim, 32, who police believe was an innocent bystander, was treated at the scene before being taken to hospital.

Her condition is being treated as life-threatening and next of kin have been informed.

Scotland Yard said there have been no arrests and a police cordon remains in place.

Detective Inspector Matt Webb, of the Met’s Specialist Crime North, said: “I am urging anyone who was in the vicinity of Westgate Street last night to come forward and speak with us.

"We have been told that the area was busy at the time of the shooting, and I am confident that someone has information that will help our investigation.

“At this early stage, we believe that the victim was an innocent bystander. I need your help to establish the events leading up to the shooting. Please make that call.”

On Friday night, Paul McCarroll, 45, was fatally stabbed at an address in Oaks Road, Kenley, near Croydon.

Despite the efforts of emergency services, Mr McCarrol was pronounced dead at the scene around 6.50pm.

His next of kin have been informed and are being supported by specially-trained officers.

Nicholas Jones, 34, of Oaks Road, Kenley, has been charged with murder and is due to appear at Croydon Magistrates’ Court today.
