The Weeknd: How to watch his Super Bowl 2021 halftime show OLD
Fans of The Weeknd are gearing up for the pop star’s headline performance at the 2021 Super Bowl, on Sunday 7 February.
The halftime show is considered one of the biggest music stages in the world, with previous headliners including Jennifer Lopez and Shakira, Beyonce, Lady Gaga, Prince, Bruce Springsteen, Michael Jackson and Justin Timberlake.
Canadian artist The Weeknd, real name Abel Tesfaye, will be performing songs from hit albums including 2020’s After Hours, Starboy (2016), and Beauty Behind the Madness (2015).
It’s possible he will appear in prosthetics or a costume in keeping with the theme of After Hours, having starred in a string of music videos with increasingly disturbing makeup.
Super Bowl 55 will see a face-off between the Kansas City Chiefs and the Tampa Bay Buccaneers at the Raymond James Stadium in Tampa, Florida.
The game is scheduled to kick off around 6.30pm ET (1am GMT) so the halftime show should take place around 90 minutes after that.
However, music fans might want to tune in earlier to watch country star Eric Church and R&B singer Jazmine Sullivan perform the National Anthem.
R&B artist HER will also sing “America the Beautiful”.
The Super Bowl will be aired by CBS and livestreamed on the CBS All Access app.
