Wendy Williams Responds To Fans' Concerns About Behavior: 'I’m Not Perfect'
Talk show host Wendy Williams has addressed viewer concerns about her well-being, telling “The Wendy Williams Show” fans she’s “not a perfectionist.”
After an odd and erratic performance during a show last week, Williams trended on Twitter as viewers wondered about her health and “condition.”
Who let #WendyWilliams on the air in that condition today?

Lots of people tweeting about #WendyWilliams on her show today. They tape Friday shows on Thursday. And yesterday she was also very “off.” I’ve been a fan for nearly 20 years. It is so hard to watch. Norman trying to help co-host almost. I hope someone helps her. @WendyWilliams

Williams responded during Monday’s show, telling viewers she comes to the broadcast every day to “do the best that I can for you.”
“I appreciate you watching, but it’s, you know, even after all of these years: It’s still work,” she said. “You know, an effort put in for the hour that I’m out here with you. I guess every day is not perfect, but I’m not a perfectionist. I’m not perfect.”
She continued: “But I do appreciate you putting in the effort to watch us and I love entertaining you. It’s not easy. It is not easy. You’re a tough crowd.”
Williams, who has hosted her nationally syndicated show since 2008, made the comments after a screenshot of Instagram comments allegedly made by her show’s former longtime DJ, DJ Boof, was posted on gossip page @thejasminebrand. Boof in the post appears to say “it will all come out” without elaborating.
It adds: “Y’all have no idea what’s really going on and everyone there is afraid to speak up because they don’t wanna lose their jobs.. this is going to play out bad.. I feel sorry for the workers and victims. Have a blessed day.”
Williams has been vocal about her struggles with addiction, and shared with fans last year that she had been staying in a sober-living facility.
“I had a struggle with cocaine in my past, and I never went to a place to get the treatment,” she said at the time. “I don’t know how except God was sitting on my shoulder and I just stopped.”
Earlier last year, Williams revealed that she had been diagnosed with Graves’ disease, an immune system disorder that results in an overactive thyroid. She took a three-week hiatus from her show after the diagnosis.
