Crystal Palace hope to welcome Wilfried Zaha back for the weekend trip to Tottenham as the star steps up his return to training.

Asked on Tuesday about Zaha’s fitness, manager Roy Hodgson said: “Quite good news, really. He's returned to training, albeit a bit modified.

“He looks ready to go again, we'll have to wait for the green light but it's looking positive.”

“Will be able to welcome him back very, very soon.”

Wednesday’s visit of Manchester United to Selhurst Park will, however, come too soon for Zaha.

Hodgson added: "I doubt it [he will be fit], unfortunately. I think we have to wait."

“Connor [Wickham] and Jeff [Schlupp] can be back from tomorrow. Unfortunately we're missing [Nathaniel] Clyne and [Tyrick] Mitchell.

“James McCarthy is back, we haven't had [James] McArthur back for a long time, we might have to wait for the international break.

Nathan Ferguson - it was his first day training with the squad on Monday, but at the moment that will be the Under-23 squad for a couple of weeks because we don't want to thrust him into the intensity straight away.

“We'll see how that progresses and then welcome him back into the fold.”
