Wilko stores will soon disappear from high streets across Norfolk after the chain collapsed earlier this year.

The homeware retailer announced it was going into administration in August, putting 12,500 jobs at risk.

Some stores in Norfolk have already closed and all of Wilko’s 400 shops across the country will be shut down by October.

Why is Wilko closing?

The homeware chain announced in early August that it had filed a notice of intention to appoint administrators amid mounting cash pressures.

The closure of the firm’s remaining 400 stores and the loss of 9,100 staff was confirmed by administrators PwC on September 11 after attempts to save the company came to an end.

Who is buying Wilko?

The Range has sealed a deal to buy Wilko’s brand, website and intellectual property.

Wilko’s name will not disappear from high streets for good as a result of the deal, with The Range confirming that it will sell Wilko products “in-store”.

Poundland's owner Pepco has also secured a deal to buy 71 of its shops.

B&M will also buy 51 of the chain's UK locations.

When will Norfolk's stores close?

Great Yarmouth's Wilko store closed on September 14 with the shop in Gorleston set to close on September 21.

The Dereham Wilko will close on September 24 along with the Thetford location.

Wilko's store in King's Lynn will close on September 28.

When will the Norwich store close?

A definitive closing date for the Wilko in St Stephen's Street has not yet been announced.
