Yahoo Finance Woman Behind 'Ugly' Haircut Speaks Out
The woman behind the controversial haircut watched on Facebook more than 11 million times is speaking out.
“It is just fashion; this is not for every day,” hairstylist Aleona Starzhinskaia of HairF–ker Studio in St. Petersburg, Russia, told Refinery29 in a Facebook conversation of the bizarre, layered style. “But I hope in [the] future…”

Julie Andreeva, the woman featured in the video, wanted to change her style ahead of her birthday. So she and Starzhinskaia came up with a plan beforehand to have a little fun.
“It was her birthday and she asked me [to] shave her head,” Starzhinskaia said. Indeed, shortly after the video went viral this week — with more than 8,000 likes — Andreeva bared a bald head.
The original video (seen here) was posted in March 2015 — but spread like wildfire on social media only this week after BarberShapp posted it on Facebook.
Comments were quick to diss the look: “I think I can safely speak on behalf of the nation by saying that this is most definitely NOT going to be a trend. I have no Other words,” wrote one person. “Even I can do this and I’m not even a hairdresser … That’s not talent that’s lets just cut and see how it turns out ..!! Ugly,” wrote another. “That poor girl looks like she’s gonna cry but can’t because she’s being filmed. Why would you do it,” said a third.
In the follow-up video on YouTube that Starzhinskaia posted, “Happy HairF*cking Birthday,” you see the finished look. It’s hard to tell if Andreeva is happier about her cleanly-shaved head, or icing covered birthday cake.
