Bolton-le-Sands Murder: Man Arrested By Police

Bolton-le-Sands Murder: Man Arrested By Police

A man has been arrested on suspicion of murdering a woman and her six-year-old son at a home in Bolton-le-Sands near Preston.

Police found a "distressing scene" after being called to the house just before midday, with a man suffering from stab wounds and the dead bodies of a woman and her young son.

The 34-year-old was arrested on suspicion of murder and airlifted to the Royal Preston Hospital where he was said to be in a serious condition.

Detective Superintendent Paul Withers, of Lancashire Police , said: "The person who is under arrest is known to the people in the house.

"It is quite a distressing scene as you can imagine, a six-year-old boy and a 41-year-old lady. We're very keen to ascertain what has happened in the house behind me.

"They've received stab wounds, I don't wish to speculate any further than that. The little boy was upstairs in the front bedroom, and his mother is downstairs."

The home has been cordoned off and post-mortems were due to be carried out to establish the causes of death.
