Woman goes apartment hunting in Brooklyn with $2,500 budget

Welcome to In The Know: Find My Dream Room! In Find My Dream Room, host Will Taylor (@brightbazaar) helps people find their dream apartments in the vast real estate market of New York City.

In this episode, Will helps a woman named Clara find the perfect one-bedroom apartment in Brooklyn. Clara has quite a long list of preferred amenities that she wants in her new apartment, with a budget of $2,500 per month. Let’s see if Will can make it happen!

Clara is looking to move from her Williamsburg studio to a one-bedroom apartment that has a bit more space. Some of her “must-haves” include a dishwasher and laundry (preferably in-unit). Clara came in with a budget of $2,500, but she claims there’s some flexibility there.

The first unit that Will shows Clara is a one-bedroom apartment for $2,600 a month. The unit has “everything on her wishlist,” according to Will, including a dishwasher and in-unit laundry. The spacious living room has tons of natural light, and the bedroom is nice and big as well, with extra-high ceilings. While the unit is slightly over Clara’s budget, it does tick all of her boxes.

The second unit, which is located in the same building as the first, has the same amenities as the first apartment, including roof access, in-unit laundry, and a dishwasher. However, the Junior one-bedroom unit is smaller than the first one, which Clara doesn’t love. That being said, at $2,100 per month, the unit is under Clara’s budget.

Finally, Will shows Clara a studio apartment for $2,300 a month. The unique studio features a large, modern kitchen, which Will claims is bigger than most one-bedroom kitchens. Plus, it has laundry in the building, as well as a bike room for residents. Not only is the studio under Clara’s budget, but it’s move-in ready and fully-furnished, including a Murphy bed that folds into the wall to create more space. While Clara came in wanting a one-bedroom, this unique studio definitely catches her eye.

Three weeks later, Clara reveals that she went with apartment #3! “It was ready to go for me, so I had to take it!” she said. “And I’m very happy with it.” Alex Hughes, Executive Producer Jordan Walker, Executive Producer Gibson Johns, Producer Ilse Atkinson, Producer
