Woman jailed after stabbing glamour model in face with a screwdriver

A woman has been jailed after stabbing a glamour model in the face with a screwdriver.

Sharon Mather, 49, stabbed Stacy Dolan, 39, multiple times on knee, arm and face, leaving her with scars which mean she is unable to do close-up modelling work.

Mather was jailed for five and a half years at Bolton Crown Court.

The court heard how Mather was drunk when she burst into Dolan’s home in the early hours of 13 July 2019, accusing the model of taking advantage of her friend.

She then stabbed Dolan in the knee and arm with a screwdriver, before pushing her over the sofa and plunging the weapon into her face.

Dolan was left with three wounds in her knee, arm and one just below the eye, the court heard.

The victim’s son was also sleeping upstairs during the assault, jurors were told.

Afterwards, Mather went to an unidentified elderly man's house where she confessed to committing the attack.

However, she ignored his advice to go to the police and only handed herself in two days later.

Paul Treble, defending, described the attack as being out of character for Mather has no previous convictions for violence.

He said: "She appears to be talked of well, as being a kind, generous lady.”

He added that Mather suffers from mental health issues and alcoholism and turned to heroin to cope with the stress of awaiting trial.

Mather had denied committing the offence but was convicted by a jury following the Bolton Crown Court trial.

She sobbed as she was sentenced by Recorder Alexandra Simmonds via a video link to Styal prison.

Simmonds said: "Until that night the two of you had been friends but something had clearly changed and upset you.

"The state you were in meant you were not prepared to listen to her."

Recorder Simmonds added: "You continue to deny this offence. However, it is clear you regret your decision to go round to Miss Dolan's house that night and I am prepared to accept your behaviour that evening was wholly out of character."

Speaking after the hearing, Miss Dolan said: "I'm not glad to see she has gone to prison but she got what she deserved. You can't get away with doing something like that."
