Woman learns shocking detail about boyfriend after their parents finally meet: 'You look so familiar...'

TikToker Courtney Mahnken made a shocking discovery about her boyfriend after their parents met for the first time that has many people believing the couple is meant to be.

On Feb. 19, Mahnken responded to a TikTok prompt that asked users to share “the craziest coincidence that has happened to you.” Her video quickly blew up with 6.1 million views and 1.8 million likes — and it’s not hard to see why.

In her TikTok, Mahnken explained that when she was 14 years old, she started dating her very first boyfriend, a middle school classmate named Nicholas Monguso. When things started to get more serious, Mahnken’s mom and Monguso’s mom met — but, to everyone’s surprise, they had actually crossed paths more than a decade earlier.

“The first thing [my mom] says to his mom is, ‘Oh my god, you look so familiar. Where did you give birth?’ Immediately I’m embarrassed and they start talking about their birthing stories,” Mahnken said.

This line of questioning isn’t as weird as it seems, though: As it turns out, the moms actually gave birth next to each other at the same hospital. Mahnken and her boyfriend were born less than 24 hours apart and, since their last names both start with an ‘M,’ they were next to each other in the baby room.

If this story isn’t already crazy enough, it gets even crazier. Twelve years later, the couple is engaged, and they have a great story to share with all of their loved ones (plus all of TikTok).

Speaking to In The Know, Mahnken shared some more details about her fateful love story with her fiancé and the night everyone realized the babies were born right next to each other.

“My mom refused to let me go to [Nicholas’] house until she met his parents,” she explained. “I was so nervous because this was my first boyfriend and my mom is an Italian with no filter. I told her, ‘Okay, we are going to say hi, but do not say anything embarrassing.’ After they exchanged a quick hello and laughed about two 14-year-olds claiming to be in love, my mom said, ‘Wait, where did you give birth?’ When his mom responded ‘Kimball Hospital,’ my mom said, ‘Oh my gosh, I knew I recognized you!’ […] When we found this out in middle school, it felt like fate.”

On Nov. 13, 2020, after 12 years of dating and (technically) 26 years of knowing each other, Mahnken and Monguso got engaged. Monguso popped the question at the school where Mahnken teaches 4th grade, and the couple is set to get married on June 30, 2022.

Whether this is just a crazy coincidence or fate in action, this is a love story for the ages.
