Yahoo Finance 'So dirty': Woman sacked for disgusting act in hospital
A hospital cleaner has been sacked after she was filmed cleaning patients' chairs with a dirty mop she'd been using on floors.
The alarming footage shows the woman wiping the armrests of several chairs and tables with the mop at the Chengkou County People's Hospital in Chongqing, one of China's major cities.
The chairs each have IV poles attached to them, meaning they are used by patients. In China, medicines are regularly initiated via a drip instead of orally with separate rooms for multiple patients often dedicated to the practice.
After the video began to circulate widely on social media, a spokesperson for the hospital confirmed in a statement on Thursday the woman had been fired from her role, the Chongqing Morning Post reported.
She was employed by an external company who have also been fined 10,000 yuan ($2,000) over the incident.
The hospital has vowed to improve cleaning standards and implement a standardised cleaning standard across the premises.
Many users on Weibo condemned the woman's behaviour and feared for the safety of patients.

"It's so dirty! How do people sit there?" one person wrote online.
"Sitting here for injections, I'm afraid I might be infected by bacteria!" another said.
However some tried to sympathise with her situation.
"If you don't five people a decent income, there is no cleanliness," one person said.
The incident comes after a kitchen worker at a Chinese university was caught on camera using a wok as a mop bucket in November.
Despite Wuhan hospitals being overwhelmed in the early stages of the Covid-19 as the original epicentre battled the emerging virus, Chinese hospitals have avoided the alarming scenes seen in some virus-ravaged countries.
Its government initiated strict lockdown measures and widespread and rapid testing during outbreaks which has allowed the nation to eliminate the virus asides from sporadic leaks.
It also implemented similar border controls to Australia.
